25 Jun LET IT OUT // JOURNALING FOR A CLEAR MIND
Hello Goa Flow-ers
One thing you might be surprise to read is that i’m not a big talker. What i mean by that is; i don’t like to talk too much. Some people thrive on talking and are really good talkers. I’m not. I have always known this about myself and have always considered myself more of a writer than a talker.
I used to write all the time; in journals, articles, newsletters, i had a blog years ago, but as i got into YouTube i became more and more a talker and my writing fell on the wayside.
A client of mine also said to me in my early YouTube days that i was a better writer than a talker, and even though it was true, it kind of pissed me off to hear it; so i made a pact with myself to better my speaking/talking skills (ha ha). I feel i have improved. YouTube has, for sure, made me more confident and fluid in my speaking, and I love that i now have options. I can make a video that feels more like a talking video or write a blog post or article because it feels more appropriate to write about that particular subject.
Funny the epiphanies we have a long our journey.
Recently i read Let It Out a book about journaling by my friend, Katie Dalebout and i realised that writing has been a missing link in my life. I have felt it for a long time that, over time, i’ve lost a lot of the focus and clarity of mind i used to have. I have over the last 5 years become very distracted, particularly by social media.
Let It Out connected me back to a part of me that once was there. Now i am so happy to be back at my computer writing on my book, blog posts and also in my journal.
Now that i have built a bigger platform it feels like a good time to bring back Let’s Goa and share interviews/talks with people i admire and who inspire me, in hope it will can inspire you too. Of course that is always my intention.
Below you will find an interview i did with Katie on Skype. We could have focused on so many areas, because the book is filled with tools for everything, but i chose to focus on journaling as a way to get clarity in disordered thinking, and how that can lead to disordered eating and a disordered body image, (since Katie has so much experience in this area).
I am all about getting order in dis-order which is something i share a little bit about in the video. I hope you enjoy the interview. You will find the video below this text and on AnitaGoaTV.
I apologise for the quality of the video. It was my first time doing a Skype interview. I know how to fix it for the next interview, so it will get better!
I would love to hear your thoughts and if anything in this interview resonated with you.
Let me know if there are any specific themes you’d like to hear about in the future.
Love, Light & Eternal Flow,
Anita Goa 🙂
